First day at the community got me excited about community design again. It was interesting to see communities at different stages of redevelopment but the best thing about the visit was meeting the community that wanted help with development plans. It was great to see their enthusiasm, and even though I’m a bit sceptical about their eagerness it is also a great learning opportunity for the group. I’m a bit disappointed that we were given a clear direction before we decided what we wanted to do as a group. As much as I appreciate the input and advice it is a bit of a missed opportunity to put to the test what we learned over last year. I have no doubt the outcome will be much better but it leaves me wondering how capable we are as “soon to be let loose” practitioners.
